About
A small firm that has been
doing this a long time.
We keep other organisations' websites, domains and email running. That is the whole business, and it has been since 2007.
Nineteen years of other people's infrastructure
AmtecHost started in 2007, doing the thing nobody else wanted to do: looking after the servers, domains and mailboxes that other organisations depended on and did not want to think about. The work has not changed much. The technology has, several times over.
We registered the business name formally with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2022. The work started well before the paperwork did, which is a fairly ordinary Nigerian story.
What we have learned in that time is unglamorous. Most outages are not sophisticated attacks. They are expired certificates, full disks, and renewal notices sent to an inbox nobody checks any more. Most of the value in this job is noticing those things early and being reachable when something slips through.

Four things we have decided about how we work
Each of these costs us something. That is generally how you tell a principle from a slogan.
Your accounts stay in your name
We operate your infrastructure. We do not own it, and we do not register it to ourselves. If you leave, nothing needs prising loose. It costs us the easy leverage that keeps some clients from going anywhere.
We say when we are not the right fit
If the self-serve store suits you better, or your problem is really a web developer's problem, we say so. That loses us work we could have taken. It is still cheaper than the alternative.
Support is not metered
No per-ticket charges, no tier to buy up into. If you have to weigh up whether a problem is worth reporting, you will report it too late, and then it is a bigger problem for both of us.
We tell you what went wrong
Including when it was our fault, and including when the honest answer is that we should have caught it sooner. Our support commitment puts that in writing.
Being straight with you
What we are not
We are not a large company. There is no follow-the-sun operation and no floor of support staff. When you call, you reach one of a small number of people, which is why they already know your setup, and also why we are honest about the limits of what a small team can promise.
We are not the cheapest. Hosting in Nigeria starts far below what managed service costs, and if you are comfortable running things yourself you should. Our pricing page says so plainly and points you at the store.
We are not a web agency. We keep online what your designer or developer built. We do not build it, write it, or market it.
We are not going to claim a number we cannot stand behind. You will not find "500+ clients" or "99.99% uptime" on this site, because those figures are unverifiable and everyone publishes them anyway.
The rest is easier to judge by talking.
Tell us what you are running and what has gone wrong before. You will be speaking to one of the people who would actually look after it.
